The Beauty of Websites

Now more than ever, we spend a great deal of our waking hours seated in front of our computer monitors. Computers are impacting our lives in exciting new ways. The broad range of content found on the Internet is reaching us on different emotional levels. We look to the Internet for knowledge, entertainment, and friendship. We find that others are eager to share with us who they are and what they are about. It is this human element that makes it special. When we post a website, we are presenting ourselves to a vast array of new people. Therefore if a site is being created to promote a business, a high quality presentation is paramount.

The impression you give your clients is as important on the web as it is in a face to face meeting, so be sure to consider the importance of a good website. Honor your guests by respecting their intelligence as well as their eyes and nerves, many sites are so loud and garish people flee from the site as fast as their mouse can click. Visual bombardment is offensive and does not tap into the potential that the Internet has to create a relationship between the viewer and the viewed.

A good website draws the potential client into the content, appealing to their sense of curiosity and imagination and thus creating a connection on a deeper level where lasting impressions can be made. Some websites try to counter the Las Vegas style hoopla by choosing a gentle esthetic and soothing shades. Unfortunately they come across as just plain boring. Keep in mind that we are now dealing with a new media, one that is responsive and multi-dimensional. We must strive to see things in fresh ways and break free of the static approach of the past where the client was passive and interaction was unheard of.

Never so much as now, have people been able to get such a sense of participation in their media experience. When they reach out to you, make sure you greet them with grace and integrity. Insure they have an enjoyable experience navigating your site; a good website needs to make sense on an organic level. It is important that you never annoy them with things like broken links and dead ends.

There are many elements that go into a quality website. Visually, intuitively and technically a good designer expertly combines their skills to help you communicate with the world. In the eyes of your clients a custom made, professionally designed and intriguing website puts you on par with the leading successful competitors in your field and lets you move into the future with confidence.
